Ex-Super Falcons Captain Graduates From FIFA Players Executive Programme

Former Super Falcons defender Onome Ebi has successfully completed the inaugural FIFA Players Executive Programme, the world football governing body announced, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The veteran Nigeria international was part of the first cohort of players to graduate from the new initiative, which aims to prepare current and former footballers for leadership, governance, and executive roles in football administration after their playing careers.

Ebi, widely regarded as one of Nigeria’s most accomplished female defenders, earned over 100 caps for the Super Falcons and participated in multiple FIFA Women’s World Cups and Africa Women Cup of Nations tournaments. 

Her graduation marks a significant milestone in her transition from the pitch to potential off-field leadership positions within the sport.

The FIFA Players Executive Programme is designed to equip participants with essential skills in leadership, strategic management, and governance. Organizers say the course addresses the growing need for former players to take up influential roles in clubs, federations, and international football bodies.

Ebi’s achievement is being celebrated as both a personal accomplishment and a positive step for women’s football in Nigeria and across Africa, highlighting pathways for retired players to remain actively involved in the development of the game.
