The National Sports Commission (NSC) has approved a 60 per cent increase in the monthly salary of Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle, raising his earnings from $50,000 to $80,000 as part of an improved contract agreement, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The revised terms were reportedly agreed following discussions between the NSC and the leadership of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

Chelle, who was on Tuesday announced as the head coach of Nigeria’s U-23 national team in addition to his role with the Super Eagles, is said to have expressed satisfaction with the new contract package.

Speaking after the meeting, the Chairman of the National Sports Commission, Mallam Shehu Dikko, confirmed that both parties had reached an agreement on the coach’s remuneration and welfare package.

According to Dikko, the improved deal includes provisions for a personal vehicle, accommodation, and the payment of salaries and allowances for Chelle’s assistants, alongside other contractual benefits.

The enhanced package underscores the commitment of the NSC and the NFF to providing the necessary support for the coach as he continues to oversee the development and performance of Nigeria’s senior national team and the U-23 side.

"Chelle will receive $80,000 as salary every month, a 60% increments from his $50,000 monthly take home," a top NSC official told BSN Sports.
