FCT SWAN Lauds National Body For Successful 60th Anniversary, Hails Members For Outstanding Recognition

The State Executive Committee of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), FCT Chapter, has congratulated the National Leadership of the Association for the successful hosting of the Diamond Jubilee Anniversary celebration held recently in Abuja.

In a statement signed by the Secretary Samuel Ahmadu, on Monday, FCT SWAN Chairman, Kelechi Onwudiwe, described the event as “historic, befitting, and excellently coordinated,” commending the National President and the entire executive for their vision and execution.

.“We heartily congratulate the National President and the National Executive Committee for the successful Diamond Jubilee celebration. The choice of Abuja as host city was strategic and symbolic, providing a unifying platform that reflected the progress and diversity of our great Association,” the statement read.

The FCT SWAN EXCO also extended congratulations to its members who received awards during the anniversary, describing their recognition as a testament to their “dedication, professionalism, and immense contribution to sports journalism and development in Nigeria". 

"We are proud of our members who were honoured at the Diamond Jubilee. Their achievements exemplify the strength and quality of the FCT SWAN family and serve as an inspiration to others within the profession,” the statement added.

Furthermore, the chapter in the nation's capital paid glowing tribute to members who served on various sub-committees and planning teams for the event, acknowledging their creativity, commitment, and teamwork, which contributed greatly to the success of the celebration.

Onwudiwe led EXCO also appreciated all members who attended and supported the ceremonies, emphasizing that their presence reinforced unity and solidarity within the association.

 “The success of the Diamond Jubilee was a product of collective effort. We commend every member who played a role—whether by planning, coordinating, or simply being present to celebrate our Association’s milestone,” the statement concluded.

The FCT SWAN leadership reaffirmed its commitment to upholding professionalism, unity, and continuous development among members while pledging sustained collaboration with stakeholders to advance sports journalism in Nigeria.
