Nigeria’s U-20 national team, the Flying Eagles, secured a spot in the final of the 2025 WAFU B U20 Championship after defeating Niger Republic 4–3 in a tense penalty shootout on Sunday, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The semi-final clash, held at the Cape Coast Stadium, ended goalless after regulation time, as both sides struggled to convert several chances in a cagey contest.

With no extra time played in the tournament format, the match proceeded directly to penalties. The Flying Eagles held their nerve from the spot, converting four of their kicks to edge past a resilient Nigerien side.

Nigeria will now await the winner of the second semi-final between host nation Ghana and Côte d'Ivoire, scheduled for 6:00 p.m. local time on Sunday evening. The final is set to determine the WAFU B U20 champion, with a place at the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations also at stake.
