Former Coach Thiaw Demands Huge Cash From Senegal Football Federation Over Unpaid Dues

Former Senegal national team coach Pape Bouna Thiaw has formally demanded 423,820,300 CFA francs from the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) over alleged unpaid salaries, bonuses, allowances and professional expenses, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Through his legal representatives, Thiaw served a formal notice on the FSF on August 13, 2026, giving the federation eight days to settle the outstanding amount before potential legal action.

The total claim of 423.82 million CFA francs is approximately $747,581, based on an August 15, 2026 exchange rate of 1 XOF = $0.00176391.

The claim is broken down as follows:

Six months' salary: 180 million CFA — approximately $317,504.

Signing bonus: 90 million CFA — approximately $158,752

Special bonus: 30 million CFA — approximately $52,917

Advanced professional expenses: 10,716,300 CFA — approximately $18,903

Housing allowance: 12 million CFA — approximately $21,167

Fuel expenses: 1,104,000 CFA — approximately $1,947.

CAN and World Cup qualification bonuses: 100 million CFA — approximately $176,391.

According to the formal notice, Thiaw's contract provides for a monthly salary of 30 million CFA francs, with six months' wages from March to August 2026 allegedly remaining unpaid. 

He also reportedly paid some professional expenses out of his own pocket, including travel costs incurred during a tour in April.

Thiaw's legal team is demanding payment of the full 423,820,300 CFA francs ($747,581) within eight days. Failure by the FSF to settle the claim could see the matter taken before the appropriate courts.
