Full List: Seventeen Premier League Clubs To Lose 40 Players To AFCON 2025

The 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) is set to cause significant disruption across the Premier League, with 40 African players from 17 clubs expected to depart for the month-long tournament scheduled for 21 December 2025 to 18 January 2026 in Morocco, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

With the competition taking place at the height of the European season, clubs could be without key first-team players for up to seven matches, including Premier League fixtures and domestic cup ties. Morocco, Egypt, South Africa, Senegal, Nigeria and defending champions Ivory Coast are among the leading contenders for the continental title.

Arsenal, Chelsea and Leeds United are the only Premier League sides without any players expected to feature in the tournament. On the opposite end, Sunderland and Wolves face the biggest squad depletion, with each set to release multiple players for international duty.
