Galatasaray Title Hopes Rises As Osimhen Targets Fenerbahçe Derby For Comeback
By Niyi Busari
Galatasaray have received a significant lift with Victor Osimhen closing in on a return from injury following concerns that his season could be prematurely curtailed, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The Nigerian forward is recovering from a fractured right forearm sustained in mid-March and has made encouraging progress after undergoing successful surgery in Istanbul. He has since resumed gym work and begun individual rehabilitation sessions.
Initial projections pointed to a lengthy absence, but Osimhen is now expected to return to competitive action by mid-April, in line with a revised recovery timeline of five to six weeks.
The club confirmed that the striker has advanced to indoor training at the Florya Metin Oktay Facilities, where he is focusing on maintaining fitness while minimising strain on the healing injury.
Medical staff are reportedly targeting the highly anticipated Intercontinental Derby against Fenerbahçe on April 26 as a possible return date.
Osimhen is expected to wear a protective brace to support his recovery and potentially accelerate his comeback, highlighting his importance to the squad at a crucial stage of the campaign.
His return would provide a timely boost for head coach Okan Buruk, with the Süper Lig title race entering a decisive phase.
Since completing his move from Napoli, Osimhen has been in prolific form, registering 12 goals in 19 league appearances, along with seven strikes in European competitions.
As Galatasaray push for domestic and continental success, the return of their leading scorer could prove pivotal in their pursuit of silverware.
