Ghana FA Approves Extension Of Presidential Term Limit

Sampson Adedeji

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has voted to extend the presidential term limit from two to three four-year terms, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The decision was reached during the 31st Ordinary Congress held on August 12 at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence.

This amendment marks a major change to the GFA’s 2019 statutes, which previously restricted presidents to a maximum of two terms.

Out of 123 delegates present, 114 voted in favour, six opposed, and three abstained.

With this change, current GFA President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, who assumed office in 2019, will be eligible to contest for a third term when his current tenure concludes in 2027.
