Ghanaian Referees Protest Over Unpaid Allowances, Demand Pay Raise For New Season

Referees in Ghana are on a collision course with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) over unpaid allowances and bonuses from the previous football season, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Reports from Ghana reveal that the match officials are owed allowances and bonuses spanning 22 weeks.

The referees have now issued a firm demand for the outstanding payments to be cleared before the 2025/2026 season kicks off.

In addition to settling the backlog, the referees are also calling for an increase in their match allowances—proposing a raise from $300 to $400 per game.

It remains uncertain whether the officials will agree to officiate the new season if their demands are not met.
