Heartland Queens, Ikorodu City Eye Historic President Federation Cup Glory

Debutants Heartland Queens and Ikorodu City will be aiming to upset Nigeria's established football order when they contest the finals of the 2026 President Federation Cup on Saturday at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The women's final will kick off at 12 noon, with Heartland Queens taking on two-time champions Nasarawa Amazons, while the men's final between defending champions El-Kanemi Warriors and first-time finalists Ikorodu City is scheduled for 4 p.m.

Heartland Queens have emerged as one of the tournament's surprise packages after an impressive run to the final. The Owerri-based side secured their place in the title match with a hard-fought semi-final victory over FC Robo Queens, who had earlier eliminated multiple champions Rivers Angels in the quarter-finals.

Their journey to the final also included victories over Dragon Fury Ladies, Ahudiyannem Queens and Ibom Angels, underlining their consistency throughout the competition.

Standing between Heartland Queens and a dream debut title are Nasarawa Amazons, one of Nigeria's most successful women's clubs. The Lafia side booked their place in the final after edging Sunshine Queens in the semi-finals at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu.

The Amazons began their campaign with a victory over Osklean FC in the Round of 32 before overcoming Naija Ratels and Edo Queens via penalty shootouts to reach the final.

In the men's competition, defending champions El-Kanemi Warriors will be seeking a fourth President Federation Cup title when they face Ikorodu City, who are making their first appearance in the final.

The Maiduguri-based club lifted the trophy in 1991 and 1992 before reclaiming it in 2024 with victory over Abia Warriors at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos.

Ikorodu City, however, have enjoyed an impressive cup run and will be determined to cap their remarkable campaign with a historic first title.

Beyond domestic silverware, the stakes are particularly high in the men's final, with the winners earning the right to represent Nigeria in next season's CAF Confederation Cup.

With experienced campaigners facing ambitious newcomers in both finals, football fans can expect two fiercely contested encounters in Asaba as the 2026 President Federation Cup reaches its climax.
