I’m Ready To Coach Nigeria If Called – Utaka
Sampson Adedeji
Newly appointed Montpellier Féminines head coach, John Utaka, has expressed his willingness to take charge of the Nigerian national team if given the chance by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Utaka, who was recently named head coach of the French Division 1 Féminine side, had previously applied for the Flying Eagles coaching role but lost out to Aliyu Zubairu.
Speaking to Brila FM after his appointment in France, the former Portsmouth forward said he would be honoured to lead the Super Eagles.
“If the NFF calls me, I’ll be glad to come. The job is to coach the players to the maximum,” Utaka stated.
The 48-cap Super Eagles star scored six goals for Nigeria and was part of the squad that finished third at the 2006 Africa Cup of Nations in Tunisia.
He also represented the country at the 2002 and 2010 FIFA World Cups.
