Injured Okoye Returns To Udinese Training
Ibrahim Lateef
Maduka Okoye has brought some good news for Coach Eric Chelle and his team ahead of the AFCON 2027 qualifiers, scheduled for Uyo on September 23, reports BSNSports.com.ng.
Udinese welcomed Okoye back on Friday, as he took part in regular training with the rest of the squad, proving that the shoulder problem he suffered in Austria is just a memory.
However, the club needs to wait a few more days to be sure Okoye is 100% fit: the real goal is to have him start in the first competitive match of the season.
As TuttoUdinese pointed out, Okoye isn't expected to play today (Saturday) in the triangular tournament between Udinese, Barcelona, and Nottingham Forest.
The medical staff, who oversaw Okoye's rehabilitation, don't want to take any risks, especially in matches that aren't of any consequence.
The date circled in red on the calendar for his return is August 15th, when the Bianconeri will face Padova in the Coppa Italia.
