Injury Update: Dele-Bashiru Doubtful For Qualifier, Out For A Month

Lazio midfielder, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, is now a major doubt for Nigeria’s upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers next month after sustaining an injury, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The 24-year-old was forced off early during Lazio’s 1-0 defeat to Roma in the Derby della Capitale last weekend. Subsequent medical checks have confirmed that he will be sidelined for at least one month.

This development is a huge blow for the Super Eagles, with head coach Eric Chelle already sweating over the fitness of some key players.

Nigeria are set to face Lesotho on October 6 in Bloemfontein before returning home to host Benin Republic in Uyo for their final round of qualifiers.

Dele-Bashiru, who has been in fine form since joining Lazio from Hatayspor, will now race against time to be fit for the crucial encounters that could decide Nigeria’s World Cup fate.
