Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has shared his expectations ahead of Nigeria's international friendly encounter against Portugal, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Nigeria will take on Portugal in a high-profile friendly match scheduled to hold in Leiria on Wednesday, with both teams using the fixture to assess their squads and tactical approaches.

Speaking ahead of the game, Chelle dismissed suggestions that Nigeria would approach the encounter as underdogs, insisting that the Super Eagles possess enough quality to compete against any opposition.

"We are not a small opponent. We come into the game with our strengths and weaknesses," Chelle said.

The Malian tactician stressed that his primary focus remains on implementing his football philosophy rather than engaging in debates over which side is superior.

"This is not a question of who is the best team. I'm only thinking about our style and our philosophy," he added.

Chelle also expressed his anticipation for an entertaining contest between the two footballing nations.

"It would be a great game," he concluded.

The friendly provides another opportunity for Chelle to further imprint his tactical identity on the Super Eagles as the team continues preparations for upcoming competitive fixtures.
