Alex Iwobi has issued an unreserved apology to Nigerians and his Super Eagles teammates following his sending off in the international friendly against Jordan national football team, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The Fulham FC midfielder was shown a red card during the encounter, which eventually ended in a 2-2 draw against the World Cup-bound side.
Reacting to the incident, Iwobi admitted his mistake and took full responsibility for his actions, stressing his commitment to improve going forward.
“I need to address what I did and apologise to all my Nigerian teammates, staff, and everyone who cares about Nigeria,” he said.
“My actions were not good enough, and I got sent off. But I will learn from this and keep moving on. We got a draw; we did not lose, so we will take the positives. I want to apologise for the mistake.”
Iwobi made the remarks during an appearance on the Alexander Yaa Digg podcast, as he looks to put the incident behind him and refocus on future engagements with the national team.
