Jupiler League: Genk Will Bounce Back – Arokodare
Sampson Adedeji
Following Genk’s disappointing start to the season, Super Eagles striker Tolu Arokodare remains optimistic that the club will turn things around despite failing to secure a win in their opening three matches, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The Nigerian forward opened his goal account for the season during Genk’s 2-1 loss to Standard Liège on Sunday.
However, he has started every game so far from the bench.
Arokodare enjoyed a stellar 2024/25 campaign, netting 21 goals and providing five assists in 40 appearances to finish as the Belgian topflight’s top scorer and Best African Player of the Season.
His form sparked transfer interest over the summer, but no concrete offers materialised, leaving his future in limbo.
“I don’t think we could have played much better. We were good from the start and tried different tactics, but conceded two unlucky goals. There are still plenty of games left,” Arokodare told Voetbal Krant.
Currently sitting 14th on the league table, Genk will be hoping for a revival when they face bottom-placed Oud-Heverlee Leuven on Friday, with Arokodare likely to see more action until his future is resolved.
