Nigerian defender Leonard Ngenge has sealed a high-profile move to Premier League outfit Leeds United, completing a significant milestone in his emerging career.
The centre-back joins the Elland Road club from Nigeria Premier Football League champions Remo Stars, where his standout performances during the first half of the season attracted attention from abroad. Ngenge has signed a deal that will keep him at Leeds until the conclusion of the 2026–27 season.
The former Enugu Rangers player made seven league appearances for Remo Stars this campaign, establishing himself as a reliable presence at the heart of defence before finalising his transfer to England. His consistent displays also earned him a call-up to Nigeria’s home-based national team.
Ngenge went on to feature twice for the Super Eagles at the 2024 African Nations Championship, gaining valuable international experience that further enhanced his reputation beyond the domestic league.
The move is widely regarded as another encouraging pathway for Nigerian-based talents transitioning to Europe’s elite competitions. Leeds United are expected to integrate the young defender gradually as part of their long-term squad development.
