Lookman Reveals Key Figures Behind His Atletico Adaptation

Ademola Lookman has credited a supportive dressing room environment for his smooth transition to Atletico Madrid following his move during the January transfer window.

The 28-year-old forward, who joined the Spanish side from Atalanta BC amid interest from several European clubs, has made an immediate impact. He has registered five goals and four assists in 14 appearances, quickly establishing himself as an important figure in the team’s attacking setup.

Reflecting on his early months in Madrid, Lookman emphasized the role played by both staff and teammates in helping him adapt to a new environment.

“Coming into a new environment, a new group is never easy,” Lookman said. “But being able to settle in well is credit to the people there — the staff and the players — because they welcomed me and made me feel comfortable, and that has translated onto the pitch.”

The Nigerian international also highlighted the importance of familiar faces in easing his transition, particularly former Atalanta teammates Juan Musso and Matteo Ruggeri.

“The connection I have with my teammates on and off the pitch helps a lot,” he added. “I was teammates with Juan Musso and Matteo Ruggeri before, so naturally I spent more time with them at the beginning. As time goes on, you build relationships with others, but they helped me a lot when I first arrived.”

Lookman’s early performances have strengthened Atletico’s attacking options as the club continues its campaign in La Liga, with the forward appearing increasingly settled both on and off the pitch.
