Nigerian track and field athlete Mary Kudoro has expressed her disappointment after being left out of Team Nigeria's squad for the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, reports BSNSports.com.ng.
Kudoro, who represented Nigeria at the World Relays in Botswana earlier this year, took to social media to share her emotional reaction, describing the omission as one of the most painful moments of her career.
The sprinter revealed that she battled illness after returning from the World Relays, losing significant weight before continuing to compete despite her condition.
"Sometimes the hardest battles are the ones nobody sees. Being dropped from my country's team was one of the most painful moments of my career, and I can't describe how disappointed and hurt I felt," Kudoro wrote.
She also expressed gratitude to those who supported her and believed she deserved a place in the squad, saying their encouragement meant a great deal despite the final decision.
Despite the setback, Kudoro remains optimistic about her future, insisting the disappointment will only motivate her to work harder.
"This pain will not weaken me. It is only a matter of time. I will keep working hard, keep believing, and keep pushing until I reach the purpose God has planned. My story is not over. Time will tell," she added.
The 2026 Commonwealth Games will be held in Glasgow, with Team Nigeria expected to compete across several sporting disciplines.
