Montage FM To Host First-Ever Community Football Tournament with ₦2.1 Million Prize Money

Montage FM 99.7 Abuja has officially unveiled the Maiden Edition of the Montage Community Football Tournament, a grassroots competition designed to promote unity, nurture local football talent, and foster youth development across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The tournament, themed “Empowering Youth, Uniting Communities Through Football,” is set to kick off on November 18, 2025, with playoffs taking place across the six Area Councils of the FCT.
A total of 24 teams, four from each Area Council will compete for a combined cash prize of ₦2.1 million and other valuable rewards. The champions will receive ₦1 million, the runners-up will take home ₦700,000, while the third-place team will earn ₦400,000.
The grand finale has been scheduled for December 7, 2025, at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja, where the top four teams will vie for the tournament’s top honors in front of expected community supporters and dignitaries.
Speaking at a press briefing on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, the Tournament Coordinator, Mr. Raphael Ekpang, described the competition as a visionary step toward community development through sports.
“I am honored to announce the Montage FCT Community Football Tournament a dynamic grassroots competition that will unite communities and discover hidden football talent across the six Area Councils of the FCT,” Ekpang stated.
He added that the initiative was conceived not only to identify and promote emerging football stars but also to encourage discipline, physical fitness, and social cohesion while addressing youth restiveness through constructive engagement.
Organizers say the competition is part of Montage FM’s broader commitment to social impact and youth empowerment across Abuja and neighboring regions.
With local pride, cash rewards, and potential scouting opportunities on the line, the Montage Community Football Tournament is already generating excitement among football enthusiasts and community leaders alike.
