The Nigeria Cricket Federation (NCF) has invited 24 players to the Senior Women’s National Team preparation camp ahead of the 12th edition of the Kwibuka Women’s T20 Tournament, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The camp is part of the federation’s build-up plans for the prestigious tournament, which annually attracts some of the top women’s cricket teams across Africa and beyond.
According to the NCF, the invited players will participate in six trial matches during the camping exercise as coaches intensify preparations for the competition.
The trial games are expected to help the technical crew assess players’ performances, fitness levels, and possible team combinations before the final squad selection.
At the conclusion of the trials, the provisional squad will be reduced to 16 players for the second phase of preparations ahead of the tournament.
The Kwibuka Women’s T20 Tournament has continued to serve as an important platform for the development of women’s cricket, while also honouring the memory of victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda.
