NFF Moves To Secure Newcastle Forward For Super Eagles
Sampson Adedeji
The Nigeria Football Federation has stepped up efforts to bolster the national team with dual-national talent after initiating contact with representatives of William Osula over a potential international switch, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Osula, who currently plays for Newcastle United, is eligible to represent both Nigeria and Denmark. The federation, through its backroom staff, has reportedly reached out to the player’s camp in a bid to convince him to pledge his international future to the Super Eagles.
The forward was last invited to the Denmark national football team squad in March but did not make his senior debut, leaving the door open for a possible change of allegiance under FIFA eligibility rules.
Sources close to the development indicate that Nigeria is keen to strengthen its attacking options ahead of upcoming international competitions, with Osula viewed as a long-term prospect due to his physicality and versatility in the final third.
Should the move materialise, Osula would join a growing list of diaspora players targeted by the NFF as part of a broader strategy to deepen squad quality and competition within the national team setup.
