NFF Reshuffles League Administration, Appoints Abdulrahaman NPFL COO

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has appointed Dr Ayo Abdulrahaman as the new Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The appointment, which takes immediate effect, was announced on Friday as the 2026 NPFL season got underway, with the opening fixture between CAF Confederation Cup campaigners Shooting Stars and newly promoted Inter Lagos at the Adamasingba Stadium in Ibadan.

Abdulrahaman, who holds a doctorate degree in Sports Administration, brings extensive experience in football organisation and administration to the position.

He has worked across various levels of Nigeria's domestic league system, giving him a broad understanding of league operations and football administration.

NFF Interim General Secretary, Dr Emmanuel Ikpeme, MON, explained that Abdulrahaman's appointment followed a directive issued by the federation on Thursday, August 27, instructing all Board Members, Chief Executive Officers of the various leagues, and Chief Operating Officers who are not members of the NFF staff to vacate their positions.

The directive forms part of the federation's latest administrative restructuring of the country's league competitions.

Abdulrahaman is expected to assume responsibility for the day-to-day operational coordination of the NPFL as the new season begins, with the league entering another campaign under a restructured administrative framework.

His appointment takes effect immediately.
