NFF Set To Benefit From Proposed FIFA $10 Billion Development Funding Plan

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is set to benefit from a proposed major increase in development funding after FIFA unveiled plans for what it describes as the largest football development investment programme in the history of the sport, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

FIFA has proposed increasing global development funding to more than $10 billion over the coming years, subject to approval by its 211 Member Associations and the FIFA Council.

At the heart of the proposal is the creation of FIFA Forward Enterprise (FFE), a new FIFA-owned and controlled commercial subsidiary designed to oversee the governing body's broadcast, sponsorship, ticketing, licensing, and tournament operations.

FIFA believes the new structure will unlock greater commercial value from its competitions and generate increased revenue for football development worldwide.

If the proposal is approved, every FIFA Member Association, including the NFF and the other 53 African football federations, will receive a significant increase in funding through an expanded FIFA Forward Programme.

Under the proposed plan, each member association would also be eligible for an optional $20 million one-off capital grant through the newly created FIFA Fast Forward Programme (FFFP).

The funding is intended to support major infrastructure projects such as stadium construction, national training centres, and other key football development initiatives.

In addition, FIFA plans to increase its regular Forward Programme funding from the current $8 million per member association to $20 million for the 2027–2030 cycle.

The allocation would then rise to $22 million for the 2031–2034 period and $24 million for the 2035–2038 cycle.

According to FIFA, the expanded funding programme would be financed through an initial capital raise of up to $4.2 billion, based on an estimated $20 billion valuation of the proposed FIFA Forward Enterprise.

If ratified, the initiative is expected to provide the NFF with increased financial resources to improve football infrastructure, grassroots development, and other strategic projects across Nigeria.
