NLO Queries Referee, Match Commissioner Over Alleged Leak of Match Report

The Nationwide League One (NLO) has issued formal queries to centre referee Adanlawo Ayomide and match commissioner Mohammed Lateef over alleged breaches of confidentiality following a one-leg playoff between Yewa Football Academy and FC Ebedei in Akure, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The officials, who were appointed for the fixture, are under scrutiny after the league received a formal statement from Yewa Football Academy representative Mojeed Ibrahim, who claimed to have accessed the official match report.

In its communication, the NLO Media Department stated that the match report is classified as an internal document strictly reserved for the Secretariat to ensure impartial review and adjudication of fixtures. 

The alleged unauthorised disclosure of the report to a club official is being treated as a serious violation of the league’s code of conduct and established ethical standards.

As a result, the Secretariat has demanded detailed written explanations from both match officials, specifically addressing how a confidential document in their custody was allegedly accessed by Mr Ibrahim.

The league further raised concerns over possible collusion, questioning why the club official’s access to the report should not be interpreted as a conspiracy to undermine the integrity of the competition.

The NLO reiterated its zero-tolerance stance on breaches of match integrity, warning that failure to provide satisfactory explanations within 24 hours could lead to immediate and indefinite suspension from all league activities. 

Such action would remain in place pending investigation by the Nigeria Football Federation Referees Committee and the NLO Disciplinary Committee.

According to the league, the credibility of its competitions depends on strict professionalism and confidentiality among match officials, stressing that the matter is being treated with utmost seriousness.
