NOC To Unveil Olympafrica Centre, Launch Olympic Estate In Lagos

By BSN Sports

The Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) is set to inaugurate the Olympafrica Centre and commence construction of a new Olympic Residential Estate in Lagos, in a move aimed at strengthening sports development infrastructure in the country, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The twin-event ceremony, scheduled for April 29, 2026, will take place at the Olympafrica Sports Centre, located along Alakoso Avenue in Amuwo Odofin. The venue is situated near the Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Revival Ministries Headquarters on the Oshodi–Mile 2 Expressway.

The Olympafrica Centre, which has long contributed to grassroots athletic development, will now be formally unveiled as part of a broader strategy by the NOC to expand its impact. The initiative also includes the groundbreaking of the Olympic Residential Estate, an integrated housing project designed to complement existing sports facilities.

The proposed estate introduces a “Live-Train-Play” concept, combining residential accommodation with training infrastructure to create a sustainable environment for athletes. The model aligns with global trends in sports development, where access to quality facilities and living conditions is seen as critical to nurturing elite talent.

Existing infrastructure at the centre includes a standard football pitch, athletics track, volleyball and basketball courts, as well as a multi-purpose indoor sports hall.

The event is expected to begin at 11:00 a.m., marking a significant step in the NOC’s efforts to enhance Nigeria’s sporting ecosystem and athlete development framework.
