NPFL: Rivers United Took Their Chance- Nasarawa United Mangut Admits

Nasarawa United technical adviser, Mbwas Mangut, has admitted that his team’s strategy failed to deliver against Rivers United in their NPFL Matchday 11 clash, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The Solid Miners suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to the Pride of Rivers on Sunday in Port Harcourt.
Reflecting on the game, Mangut acknowledged that it was a difficult contest despite his side’s preparation and growing confidence.
“It’s unfortunate that the game ended this way despite our recent confidence-building performances,” Mangut said.
“We knew it wouldn’t be easy facing Rivers United at home, especially with their recent results.”
He further explained that the wet playing surface hampered Nasarawa United’s passing rhythm, which allowed the hosts to capitalize on their only clear chance.
“We tried to contain their aggressiveness, but they took advantage of their opportunity. The turf was quite wet, which disrupted our ball circulation and affected our style of play,” he added.
Mangut, however, praised his players for their commitment and expressed optimism about the team’s long-term ambitions.
“I commend my boys for their effort and congratulate Rivers United for making the most of our defensive mistake. We’re a young, self-motivated team with strong backing from the Nasarawa State Government. Our goal is to make a name for ourselves and finish respectably this season,” he concluded.
