NPFL: Rivers United Will Challenge For The Title – Finidi

Rivers United head coach, Finidi George, has expressed confidence that his side is ready to challenge strongly for the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title this season, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Port Harcourt-based club narrowly missed out on the trophy last season, finishing behind eventual champions Remo Stars after a tightly contested race.

Rivers United began their 2025/26 campaign with a 1-1 draw against the defending champions at the Moshood Abiola Sports Arena, Abeokuta, last Friday.

Looking ahead to their second fixture against Kwara United at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium on Sunday, Finidi assured fans that the team is determined to go one better this season.

“It’s good that the fixtures are tough early on, because any mistakes will help us identify where to improve,” Finidi told the club’s media team.

“We are not afraid of any team this season. We will play our best football and, hopefully, get the results we deserve.”
