NPFL: Shooting Stars Pip Inter Lagos In Season Opener Sampson

Stars began their 2026/2027 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) campaign on a winning note after edging newly promoted Inter Lagos 2-1 at the Adamasingba Stadium on Friday, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Oluyole Warriors took the lead in the 15th minute through Lucky Emmanuel, but Inter Lagos responded seven minutes later as Damilare Adigun found the back of the net to level the score.

Shooting Stars regained the advantage shortly before half-time when Sodiq Ibrahim converted a penalty in the second minute of added time to give the hosts a 2-1 lead at the break.

Despite efforts from Inter Lagos to find an equaliser in the second half, Shooting Stars held on to secure all three points in the opening fixture of the new NPFL season.

Shooting Stars dominated possession with 58 percent and also registered 11 shots, four of which were on target, compared to Inter Lagos' five shots and one on target.

The victory gives Shooting Stars an early boost as the NPFL season gets underway, while Inter Lagos will look to bounce back in the subsequent game
