Nigeria Arrives In Togo In High Spirits As African Championship Begins

Nigeria’s U-18 and U-20 men’s handball teams have arrived in Lomé, Togo, ahead of the 2026 IHF Trophy Africa Zone 3 tournament, as both sides gear up for continental qualification, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The competition, organised by the International Handball Federation, gets underway today and will run through Saturday, serving as a vital development platform for emerging talents across the region.

Both Nigerian teams arrived in high spirits following weeks of intensive preparation, with training camps focused on tactical discipline, physical conditioning, and team cohesion ahead of the championship.

With qualification at stake, the pressure is on, as winners in both the U-18 and U-20 categories will progress to the continental phase to represent Zone 3 on a bigger stage.

According to the official draw, Nigeria’s U-18 team has been placed in Group B alongside Benin, Burkina Faso, and Niger, while Group A consists of Ghana, Togo, and Ivory Coast.

In the U-20 category, Nigeria will also compete in Group B, facing Ivory Coast and Burkina Faso, while Group A includes Ghana, Benin, Togo, and Niger.
