Sampson Adedeji
Nigeria is awaiting a decision from FIFA following the arrival of key officials of the National Sports Commission (NSC) and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) in Zurich, Switzerland, to formally brief the world football governing body on the latest developments in Nigerian football, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
NSC Chairman Shehu Dikko, NFF Acting General Secretary Dr Emmanuel Ikpeme and the federation’s Head of Legal Affairs, Obi, are in Zurich for discussions with FIFA officials.
The trio traveled to Zurich on Monday morning.
The Nigerian delegation is expected to officially notify FIFA of the recent changes within the NFF following the resignation of erstwhile NFF President Ibrahim Gusau and the entire Executive Committee last Thursday.
The development has created a leadership vacuum at the federation, with attention now focused on how the transition will be handled and the next steps towards stabilising the administration of Nigerian football.
The meeting with FIFA is expected to provide clarity on the situation and the appropriate process for moving forward, particularly regarding the administration of the NFF and the continuity of Nigeria’s international football activities.
Nigeria is now awaiting FIFA’s position following the formal engagement in Zurich, with further developments expected after the meeting.
