Nigeria’s Favour Ofili continued her impressive 2026 campaign with a commanding victory in the women’s 200 metres at the Grand Prix Brescia in Italy on Sunday,

Ofili clocked 22.03 seconds in a wind-neutral performance to finish comfortably ahead of Jamaica’s Ashanti Moore, who crossed the line in 22.47 seconds. Ivory Coast’s Maboundou Kone completed the podium in 22.66 seconds.

Ireland’s Rhasidat Adeleke finished sixth in 22.85 seconds.

Ofili’s 22.03-second performance underlines her growing consistency in the 200m and further strengthens her status as one of Nigeria’s leading sprint prospects on the international circuit.

The Nigerian produced a controlled but authoritative run, maintaining her advantage through the latter stages of the race to secure victory against a competitive field.

Her latest success adds to an encouraging season for the 23-year-old, who has established herself as one of the fastest Nigerian women over both the 100m and 200m.

Ofili has also continued to build valuable international experience as she targets major championships and the next phase of her career. Her versatility across the two sprint events has made her an important part of Nigeria’s ambitions in global athletics.

The Brescia victory will provide further momentum as the Nigerian sprinter continues her preparations for the remainder of the outdoor season, with attention now expected to turn to upcoming high-level meetings and championship competition.

For Nigeria, Ofili’s continued emergence is significant in the country’s quest to maintain its tradition of excellence in women’s sprinting and produce athletes capable of challenging for honours on the global stage.
