Nigerian Youngster Clinches Formula 3 Title In Melbourne

Nigerian youngster Ugo Ugochukwu was the cynosure of all eyes in the early hours of Sunday as he surprisingly emerged champion of the FIA Formula 3 Championship race in Melbourne, Australia, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The talented driver produced an impressive performance on the famous Albert Park Circuit to secure victory, further underlining his reputation as one of the most promising young talents in international motorsport.
Born and raised in New York City, Ugochukwu is the son of Nigerian fashion model Oluchi Onweagba and an Italian father.
Despite his American upbringing, the youngster has strong Nigerian roots and continues to attract attention within the country’s sporting community.
Before his rise to Formula 3, Ugochukwu built a solid reputation in the junior categories.
He finished third in the F4 British Championship while racing for Carlin and later emerged runner-up in the 2023 Italian F4 Championship driving for Prema Racing.
The youngster also competed in the Formula Regional European Championship as part of his steady progression through the ranks.
In 2024, he etched his name in the history books by becoming the first American driver to win the prestigious Macau Grand Prix in 43 years.
Ugochukwu was also a member of the McLaren Driver Development Programme from 2021 to 2025, a platform that helped nurture his development and prepare him for the higher levels of global motorsport.
His triumph in Melbourne marks another significant milestone in what is shaping up to be a remarkable racing career.
