Newcastle forward William Osula
No Contact Between Osula and Super Eagles, Sources Confirm
By Our Reporter
Reports suggesting that Newcastle United forward William Osula is in discussions to switch his international allegiance to Nigeria have been dismissed, with no contact established between the player and the Super Eagles’ technical crew, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Recent speculation had indicated that the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) was actively pursuing Osula and had initiated talks aimed at securing his commitment to the national team. However, sources have clarified that no such discussions have taken place, either with the player or with Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle.
Osula, 22, remains eligible to represent Nigeria despite previously featuring for Denmark at youth level. Having not yet made a senior appearance for Denmark, he retains the option to switch allegiance in line with FIFA eligibility regulations.
While the forward has been gaining attention for his development in English football, there has been no formal approach from Nigerian authorities regarding a potential call-up. Officials within the NFF have described the circulating reports in both local and international media as unfounded.
Osula continues to build his profile at club level, where his physical attributes and attacking qualities have marked him out as a player with promising potential. For now, however, his international future remains open, with no immediate indication of a change in national team representation.
