Samuel Ogazi produced a commanding performance to win the men's 400 metres title for Nigeria at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, crossing the finish line in a championship-winning time of 44.25 seconds, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Nigerian quarter-miler seized control of the race on the final bend before surging clear of his rivals in the home straight to secure the gold medal in convincing fashion.

Trinidad and Tobago's Jereem Richards claimed the silver medal after finishing in 44.82 seconds, while South Africa's Zakithi Nene completed the podium with a time of 45.21 seconds.

Ogazi's victory added another gold medal to Team Nigeria's growing tally in Glasgow, further strengthening the country's impressive athletics campaign at the Games.

Fellow Nigerian Edidiong Okon Udo, who also qualified for the final, placed eighth after clocking 45.81 seconds.

The victory marks another significant milestone in Ogazi's rapidly developing career and reinforces his status as one of the Commonwealth's premier 400m athletes.
