Head Coach of Bayelsa Queens, Whyte Ogbonda has expressed delight over the preparations of his side ahead of WAFU Zone B engagement, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

WAFU Zone B-bound Bayelsa Queens FC cruised past hard-fighting Unification Ladies of Lagos in a friendly match on Saturday at the Maracana Stadium in Ajegunle.

Captain Blessing Ilivieda opened the scoring in the 69th minute with her trademark, a shot from 25 yards to give the Prosperity Girls the lead after she was booked in the 62nd minute of play. In the 76 minutes, a pass from Shakirat Moshood connected to Delight Isaac, who missed a tap-in as the ball went wide for a harmless goal kick.

Delight Isaac then made no mistake from the penalty spot as she scored in the 89th minute sending the goalkeeper the wrong way as she added a second when Mary Lucky was brought down for a penalty.

Ogbonda described the win as a major psychological boost as his team intensified preparations for the 5th WAFU Zone B CAF Women’s Champions League qualifiers scheduled to take place in Côte d'Ivoire from August 9 to 24.

“Though we won the game against Unification Ladies, I must say I am not impressed with the players performance in the first half of the match, but in the second period we saw a different Bayelsa Queens which is what we wanted.

“I know we’ll get things right before we go to Côte d’Ivoire as the girls are giving their best to make sure all goes well”, Ogbonda added.
