Nigeria international rejoins WNBA side ahead of new season

Nigeria’s D’Tigress forward Amy Okonkwo has signed a training camp contract with the Dallas Wings for the upcoming 2026 WNBA season, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The move marks Okonkwo’s return to the franchise after she featured for the Wings towards the end of the 2025 campaign, where she delivered strong performances off the bench.

During her time with Dallas last season, the Nigerian star averaged 11 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 1.4 steals per game, while shooting an efficient 49.2 percent from the field.

Her return is expected to bolster the Wings’ frontcourt depth as she aims to impress during training camp and earn a full roster spot for the new season.

Okonkwo, a key member of Nigeria’s senior women’s national team, continues to make significant strides in her professional career, with this latest opportunity providing another chance to showcase her talent on the WNBA stage.
