Super Falcons forward Asisat Oshoala has apologised to Nigerians following the team’s defeat and urged fans to rally behind the squad ahead of their crucial World Cup playoff clash against South Africa, BSNSports.com.ng reports Oshoala acknowledged the disappointment of Nigerians and stressed the importance of securing the World Cup ticket, with the Super Falcons set to face Banyana Banyana in a decisive encounter. “The only thing I can say right now is we need their support. The World Cup ticket is at stake, so this is the time when we really need everyone to support the team,” Oshoala was quoted by ESPN. The experienced forward also referenced the Super Eagles’ failure to qualify for the World Cup, saying the Super Falcons understand the emotions surrounding the situation. “We already know the Super Eagles didn’t qualify, so we know what is at stake and we know how Nigerians feel about this. We are sorry we lost this one, but the next game we will put in more effort and try to win the game,” she added. The Super Falcons will now look to bounce back against South Africa, with victory crucial to Nigeria’s hopes of securing a place at the FIFA Women’s World Cup.
