Seven-time Olympian Funke Oshonaike has etched her name in the record books as the first Nigerian to be appointed to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Athletes’ Commission, BSNSports.com.ng reports 

The veteran table tennis star, widely regarded as one of Africa’s most accomplished players, will serve in a role designed to ensure that athletes’ voices are represented at the highest level of global sports governance.

Oshonaike’s appointment marks another milestone in a career that has spanned over three decades, featuring multiple Olympic appearances, continental titles, and an enduring influence on African table tennis.
