The Super Eagles of Nigeria have assembled a full squad at their Uyo base as preparations intensify for their upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying fixtures, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The final group of players, including Victor Osimhen, Samuel Chukwueze, Tolu Arokodare, Raphael Onyedika, and Chrisantus Uche, arrived on Wednesday, bolstering head coach Eric Chelle’s options with a mix of proven talent and emerging quality.
They joined early arrivals such as Ademola Lookman and Cyriel Dessers, completing the 23-man roster ahead of back-to-back Group C qualifiers against Rwanda and South Africa.
Training commenced promptly on Wednesday evening, with sessions focused on tactical organization, set-piece execution, and physical conditioning. A second session is scheduled for Wednesday as Chelle continues to fine-tune team chemistry and match readiness.
Osimhen’s arrival provides Nigeria with a formidable attacking spearhead, while Chukwueze’s pace and creativity on the flanks are expected to pose significant problems for opposition defenses. Arokodare adds depth and versatility to the frontline, Onyedika brings midfield dynamism, and Uche offers tactical balance in central areas.
Meanwhile, Victor Boniface resumed training with his German Bundesliga club, Werder Bremen on Wednesday ahead of his debut after the FIFA international window.
The Super Eagles will open this international window with a home fixture against Rwanda in Uyo on Saturday, before traveling to Bloemfontein to face South Africa on Tuesday. Two matches that could prove pivotal in Nigeria’s bid to qualify for the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
With qualification hopes delicately poised, Chelle’s side will be aiming for six points from both encounters to solidify their position in Group C and keep their World Cup dream on track.
