Poland vs Nigeria: Date, Kick-Off Time and Match Preview

The Super Eagles of Nigeria will face Poland in an international friendly on Wednesday, June 3, in Warsaw as head coach Eric Chelle continues preparations for future competitions, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The match comes on the back of Nigeria’s impressive 3-0 victory over Jamaica in the Unity Cup final in London, a result that helped the Super Eagles successfully defend the title and extend their unbeaten run under Chelle.

For both Nigeria and Poland, the encounter provides an opportunity to rebuild and fine-tune their squads following the disappointment of missing out on qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. With no competitive fixtures on the immediate horizon, both teams are expected to use the friendly to assess personnel and strengthen team cohesion ahead of upcoming international assignments.

Nigeria are likely to continue evaluating several emerging talents who impressed during the Unity Cup campaign. Among them is Femi Azeez, whose promising performances were unfortunately interrupted by injury.

The Super Eagles will, however, be without two of their biggest attacking stars. Reigning African Footballer of the Year Ademola Lookman has been excused from the squad after a demanding club season, while Victor Osimhen was released to address uncertainty surrounding his club future.

Despite those absences, Nigeria could still rely on experienced players such as Alex Iwobi, Wilfred Ndidi and Calvin Bassey as Chelle seeks to maintain the team's positive momentum.

Poland, meanwhile, are expected to field a strong side featuring established internationals including Jakub Kiwior, Matty Cash and veteran striker Robert Lewandowski as they look to bounce back from recent disappointments.

With both teams eager to make progress under their respective rebuilding projects, Wednesday’s friendly promises to be a competitive contest in the Polish capital.
