Ghana are set to retain the services of head coach Carlos Queiroz beyond the expiration of his current contract on July 31, 2026, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The experienced Portuguese tactician is expected to sign a new two-year contract with the Ghana Football Association after guiding the Black Stars to qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Queiroz has impressed the Ghanaian football authorities with his work since taking charge, and the proposed extension is seen as a vote of confidence in his leadership.

With Ghana's place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup already secured, Queiroz's primary objective under the new deal will be to lead the Black Stars to success at the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.

The former Portugal, Iran and Egypt coach will now be tasked with building on Ghana's recent progress as the Black Stars aim to end their long wait for a fifth AFCON title.
