NPFL champions Rangers International will face hosts Plateau United in the final of the 2026 NPFL Super 6 Preseason Tournament at the New Jos Stadium on Sunday, August 23, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The much-anticipated final is scheduled to kick off at 4:00 p.m., with both sides seeking to round off their preparations for the 2026/27 Nigeria Premier Football League season on a winning note.

Rangers, who were crowned NPFL champions at the end of the 2025/26 campaign, will be aiming to underline their status as one of the country's leading clubs. The Enugu-based side secured the league title on the final day of last season after defeating Ikorodu City 2-1 in Lagos.

Plateau United, meanwhile, will enjoy the advantage of playing in front of their home supporters at the New Jos Stadium. The Jos-based club made an impressive start to the tournament, defeating Rivers United 1-0 in their opening fixture, with Jibril Ibrahim scoring the decisive goal.

The final brings together two sides with contrasting but equally strong motivations. While Rangers will be keen to demonstrate that their championship-winning form remains intact ahead of the new league season, Plateau United will look to use home advantage and the momentum of their preseason campaign to claim the trophy.

The Super 6 has provided the participating clubs with valuable competitive preparation, allowing coaches to assess their squads, test tactical systems and give new players an opportunity to adapt before the start of the new NPFL campaign. The tournament is also particularly important for Nigeria's clubs preparing for CAF inter-club competitions.

The 2026 edition features six clubs and is being staged in Jos with the support of the Plateau State Government. The tournament brings together Rangers, Rivers United, El-Kanemi Warriors, Katsina United, Plateau United and Mighty Jets.

With both teams now within touching distance of the preseason title, Sunday's encounter promises to provide an intriguing final test before attention shifts to the demands of the 2026/27 NPFL season.
