Rangers Boss Offers Encouraging Update On Injured Super Eagles Striker

Rangers manager Russell Martin has delivered a positive fitness update on Nigerian forward Cyriel Dessers, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Dessers picked up a knee injury during the Light Blues’ UEFA Champions League qualifying clash with Viktoria Plzen on Tuesday night, forcing him off in the 54th minute.

The 30-year-old was initially feared to be facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

However, Martin has allayed those concerns, confirming the damage is less severe than first thought.

“Cyriel Dessers’ injury was not as bad as we expected. He’s still sore, but he’ll be back in the coming weeks,” Martin told reporters on Friday.

Rangers are set to host Alloa Athletic in a Premier Sports Cup Round of 16 fixture at Ibrox on Saturday.
