Scottish giants Rangers FC have identified Nigerian defender Ryan Alebiosu as a potential replacement for long-serving captain James Tavernier, who is expected to depart the club at the end of the season, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Alebiosu, who has attracted attention with his performances in England, is also on the radar of several European clubs, including Genoa CFC, VfL Wolfsburg and Everton FC.

The Super Eagles prospect is currently under contract with Blackburn Rovers until 2028, but his future could be influenced by the club’s precarious position, with the possibility of a reduced transfer fee should relegation concerns materialise.

Rangers are keen to reinforce their defensive options ahead of the new campaign, with Alebiosu emerging as one of the key names under consideration as they prepare for life after Tavernier.
