Rivers United Returns To Domestic Action, Set For Niger Tornadoes Clash

After defeating FC Les Aigles du Congo 1-0 on Sunday in the CAF Champions League and qualifying for the final preliminary round of the competition, Rivers United has switched focus to the Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Pride of Rivers will on Wednesday, October 1, take on Niger Tornadoes in their 9th league match as hosts, having not dropped a point against them on home soil.

Rivers United are unbeaten in their last 8 league games at home against Niger Tornadoes, winning all 8, scoring 14 and conceding just 3 goals.

Previewing the game, Rivers United Media Officer, Charles Mayuku confirmed that there are no new injury concerns for the Pride of Rivers.

According to him, "Ebuka Akobundu will remain unavailable as he continues on his road to full fitness."

In the same vein, it has been an impressive start to the season for Majin Mohammed tutored Niger Tornadoes side as they sit in 3rd position on the log after 5 matches with 9 points (W3, L2) but have lost their 2 games on the road this season 1-0 against Enyimba International and Bendel Insurance. 

Niger Tornadoes will depend on inform Clinton Jephta to deliver the goods while also hoping Ismaila Sarki, Abba Khalid, and Abdulrasheed Dabai arrive Port Harcourt with their scoring boots.
