Route, Road Closures Revealed for Abuja International Half Marathon

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has released a traffic advisory ahead of the PremiumTrust Bank Abuja City International Half Marathon, scheduled for Saturday, December 6, 2025.

To ensure the safety of thousands of athletes and the smooth coordination of the event, the marathon route will be closed to vehicular traffic between 6:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. Motorists have been advised to plan alternative routes early to avoid disruptions.

Race Route Overview

Start Point:

Opposite the National Fire Service Headquarters, Mohammed Buhari Way.

Route Progression:

Proceed straight and turn right before Gana Street into Constitution Avenue

Continue to the Federal Secretariat, then turn right onto Shehu Shagari Way

Move straight past the Court of Appeal and turn left onto Goodluck Jonathan Expressway

Continue and turn right onto Murtala Mohammed Expressway

Head to Apo Roundabout and turn right onto Nnamdi Azikiwe Expressway

Proceed to Area 1/Galadimawa Roundabout and turn left onto Ambassador Valentine Okereke Boulevard

Continue straight, then turn right onto Christopher Gwabin Musa Way

Enter the Package B Sports Complex, then proceed to Package A

Finish Point:

In front of the Velodrome, Abuja.

Traffic Management Measures

The Directorate of Road Traffic Services (DRTS) has confirmed that traffic marshals and security personnel will be stationed along the entire route to manage diversions, guide motorists, and ensure safety. The FCTA urges all road users to follow the directions of on-site officers throughout the event.
