Super Eagles Captain Troost-Ekong Flaunts N8 Million Customized Gold iPhone
By Niyi Busari
Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong has turned heads with a new piece of luxury: a customized iPhone 17 encased in 24-karat gold, reportedly worth over ₦8 million, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The Nigerian international, who currently plays as a centre-back for Al-Kholood in the Saudi Pro League, was recently seen showcasing the premium device, drawing widespread attention across social media.
Troost-Ekong, 32, has consistently been in the spotlight for both his on-field performances and off-field charisma. Born in the Netherlands to a Dutch mother and Nigerian father, he was eligible to represent either country at international level. He ultimately chose Nigeria and made his debut for the Super Eagles in 2015. Since then, he has earned over 80 caps for the national team.
In 2023, Troost-Ekong was named Player of the Tournament at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), leading Nigeria to a strong finish as runners-up to host nation Côte d'Ivoire. His leadership and defensive prowess were key highlights throughout the tournament.
He also played a crucial role in Nigeria's qualification for the CAF World Cup playoffs, scheduled for November in Morocco.
While his customized phone has drawn a mix of admiration and debate, it further reflects the defender’s status as one of Nigeria’s most prominent football figures both on and off the pitch.
