Nigeria internationals Taiwo Awoniyi and Semi Ajayi featured for the full 90 minutes as Hull City maintained their perfect start to the Premier League season with a narrow victory over Coventry City, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Awoniyi started for Coventry, while Ajayi completed the game for Hull as the newly promoted side followed up their stunning 2-0 victory over Manchester United with another impressive result on the road.

Hull, widely tipped by many to struggle following their return to the Premier League, have now collected maximum points from their opening two matches and moved up to second place in the early standings.

For Coventry, it was another frustrating afternoon after they opened their campaign with a 3-0 defeat away to defending champions Arsenal.

The Sky Blues dominated possession for long periods and were desperate to respond in front of their home supporters, but struggled to turn their control into clear-cut chances.

Awoniyi came closest for the hosts in the first half when he failed to make clean contact with a deflected Loum Tchaouna cross. His effort was nevertheless heading towards goal before Hull goalkeeper Konstantinos Tzolakis produced an excellent save to keep the game level.

Hull created the clearer opportunities as the contest progressed.

Nobel Mendy forced a fine stop from Carl Rushworth with a powerful 30-yard half-volley, while Millar missed a golden opportunity after beating two defenders before dragging his effort wide.

Millar made amends eight minutes from the end of normal time, however, as Hull struck on the counter-attack.

Mohamed Belloumi released Millar into space and the forward kept his composure to slot the ball past Rushworth and give Hull a valuable away victory.

The result leaves Hull with six points from their opening two matches and provides an early boost to their hopes of defying the pre-season predictions.

Meanwhile, Awoniyi's Nigerian teammate Frank Onyeka was unavailable for Coventry after picking up a knock.

The result leaves Coventry still searching for their first points of the campaign, while Hull's remarkable start has already placed them among the early pace-setters in the Premier League.
