Super Eagles Rated Among Countries With Most Matches Played in 2025

The Super Eagles of Nigeria have been listed among the national teams that played the highest number of international matches in the 2025 calendar year, reflecting a packed schedule driven by continental competitions, qualifiers, and friendly fixtures, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

According to available data, Nigeria played a total of 18 matches in 2025, placing them in the same bracket as DR Congo, Oman, Tunisia, Uganda, and the United States.

 The busy run underscores the Super Eagles’ heavy involvement in international football activities throughout the year.

Morocco topped the chart with 26 matches, the highest by any national team in 2025. Algeria followed with 23 matches, while Saudi Arabia and Sudan each played 20 games. 

Senegal completed 19 fixtures during the year.

Other countries with significant match counts include Burkina Faso, Guatemala, Jamaica, and Trinidad and Tobago, who each recorded 17 appearances.

Nigeria’s demanding schedule was largely influenced by AFCON 2025 commitments, World Cup qualification fixtures, and international friendly matches, giving the technical crew ample opportunity to assess players and build team cohesion.

The high number of matches also highlights the growing intensity of the international football calendar, raising discussions around player workload, squad rotation, and injury management for national teams across Africa and beyond.
